Our history
Tre Scalini Restaurant, since 1815 in piazza Navona
Tre Scalini’s history is a family tradition that stretches back over two hundred years: in a Notice issued by the Governor in February 1815, the Osta alli Tre Scalini, at No. 31 Piazza Navona, appears on the list of Osterie (taverns) authorised to remain open until one o'clock in the morning.
An address, a welcoming destination that has witnessed the passing of centuries, remaining an ever-faithful companion. The original Roman osteria, which originally focused more on serving drinks than on food, has evolved over time, adapting to developments in the country's history, and becoming an icon of Rome's Dolce Vita in the 1960’s. Nowadays, Tre Scalini Restaurant is an unmissable landmark for travellers from all over the world, who come to Piazza Navona to discover its treasures; as well as for Romans, who come for a stroll and enjoy their serene urban meeting place.
